Congratulations to the 2025-26 Kittyhawk Chapter Scholarship Recipients

Reanne Roberts

Reanne Roberts is a senior from Newport, MI, majoring in civil engineering at UD. She is actively involved on campus through the Kappa Delta sorority and is a proud member of Tau Beta Pi, the engineering honors society. Additionally, Reanne has committed herself to serving others here at UD and in our community. She has served as both a teaching assistant and an engineering foundation workshop facilitator to mentor students on campus, and participates in community service initiatives with local Girl Scouts and Prevent Child Abuse America.

Patrick Flannery

My name is Patrick Flannery, and I am a fourth-year student at the University of Cincinnati currently studying mechanical engineering. I am in the Army ROTC program here at UC with the hope of being commissioned as a military intelligence officer in the active-duty component. In my time outside of class and ROTC, I work for the learning commons as an (SRS Supplemental Review Session) leader. In this position, I teach two weekly calculus review sessions to the same students to help them succeed in their math courses. I am a member of the engineering honor society Tau Beta Pi. I have completed two coops with Thyssenkrupp Bilstein in their defense department as a manufacturing engineer. I am currently working a coop at Saratech as an application engineer for CAD and CAM software. After serving four years in the Army, I plan to work in the civilian sector in either the automotive or defense industry. Thank you Kittyhawk Chapter for your overwhelming generosity!”.

Daniel Borguignon

I’m an electrical engineering student at Cedarville University focused on applying first principles to real-world problems and communicating complex ideas in clear, intuitive ways. On campus, I serve as president of the Ohio Nu chapter of Tau Beta Pi, representing Cedarville at the national level and promoting excellence and integrity in engineering. I also work as a resident assistant, mentoring fellow students and supporting their personal and academic growth, and serve as CEO and Firmware & Machine Learning lead for my senior design team.

After graduation, I will begin my career as a software engineer supporting national defense at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, while continuing to deepen my technical expertise with plans to pursue a PhD in electrical engineering. I hope to one day teach and inspire future engineers.”

Madalena Hughes

Madalena Hughes is a current senior studying Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Ohio State University. Her engineering interests include biomedical and biotechnology subjects like neuroengineering and rehabilitation robotics, and her current projects include a closed-loop real-time biofeedback system to mitigate stress through music parameter adaptation based on EEG and HRV signals. Madalena will be pursuing her Master’s at Ohio State beginning in the Spring of 2026, and hopes to get her PhD afterwards. Outside of the classroom and lab, she enjoys watching hockey, playing chess, and taking care of her terrariums.

Ethan Savar

Ethan Savar will be graduating from The Ohio State University in May of 2026 with a double major in Computer Science Engineering and Mathematics. He is very passionate about research areas in the intersection of the two fields and is planning on pursuing a graduate degree. Ethan is an undergraduate TA as he loves giving back to students, and in his free time he runs a club on campus. During the Summer of 2026 before beginning his graduate degree he will intern in the DC area. He looks up to his parents, friends, and family as motivation to succeed.

Alexander Caupp

I’m currently pursuing a degree in Quality Engineering Technology while working full time in aerospace manufacturing. With over four years of experience in operations and procurement and five years of project management, I’ve developed a strong foundation in both hands-on production and process improvement. This scholarship would ease the financial burden as I work toward becoming a Quality Engineer.

My goal is to become a Quality Engineer, ideally in advanced manufacturing. This Kittyhawk Chapter of the Society of Military Engineers scholarship has helped me continue my education while working full time, easing the financial stress of tuition and allowing me to focus more fully on building the skills I need. It’s a critical step in advancing my career and creating long-term stability for my future.

Tetyana Zlatova

I was born in Ukraine and raised in Bulgaria. At the age of ten, I started learning both Russian and English at home. About a year later, after moving to the U.S., I learned to play the violin at a public school. I quickly progressed to become the first chair violinist, but not without being challenged to keep it through a few blind auditions. My family and life circumstances showed me that being a lifelong learner can literally take you places-and with places come opportunities and new ideas. At the start of my first semester, I set aside some of my hobbies in order to excel in my studies. I enjoyed learning how to build and assemble parts, especially while designing a candy dispenser. Even though I was one of the least experienced students in my class I liked to spend extra time figuring out the information I needed. I utilized YouTube, online articles, textbooks, and tutors. I am super thankful for the Kittyhawk S.A.M.E. scholarship for allowing me to focus fully on my studies. I want to be the best in my field in order to build reliable and safe mechanical parts.

Auna Tack

Major: Electrical Engineering

Career Goal: To apply my education in radio frequency transmissions and electrical engineering in support of the U.S. warfighter, with the long-term goal of becoming a mother and devoting myself fully to my future family and community.

Abdelaziz (Aziz) Saleh

Major: Computer Engineering

Career Goal: I’m interested in embedded systems, AI, and AR/VR technology, and my goal is to build a career working on intelligent systems that connect hardware and software in meaningful ways. Outside of school, I enjoy gaming, working on my personal hardware projects and enjoy building PCs in my free time.

Margaret (Maggie) Mann

Major: Chemistry

Career Goal: Finish my Bachelor of Science degree and then pursue a PhD in organic chemistry. With my degrees, I would like to research different types of drugs and how the chemicals interact with the human body. I’m interested in researching drugs with fewer side effects and less toxicity that ultimately fix the disease or illness and are better for both humans and the environment.

Chathuni Kulathunga

Major: Physics

Career Goal: I aspire to work in space exploration, focusing on research that advance the understanding of the cosmos. My dream is not only to launch rockets but also to inspire a new generation of female scientists and innovators from all around the globe.
