Congratulations to the 2024-25 Kittyhawk Chapter Scholarship Recipients

Jared Herrell

Madison Lovette - KAOC Scholarship

I am a senior at the University of Dayton from Asheville, OH studying mechanical engineering. I enjoy riding dirt bikes and waterskiing in my free time, even serving as the president of the Unviersity of Dayton’s waterskiing club. This financial support eases the burden of tuition and allows me to focus on my academic and personal growth rather than my parents, both of whom are teachers, and I worrying about how to fund my education. The donors’ commitment to philanthropy serves as a powerful reminder that we are all part of a larger community, and it is through kindness and generosity that we can uplift each other and create lasting change.

Patrick Flannery

Jennifer Welling - KAOC scholarship
My name is Patrick Flannery, and I am a third-year student at the University of Cincinnati currently studying mechanical engineering. I am in the Army ROTC program here at UC with the hope of being commissioned as a military intelligence officer in the active-duty component. In my time outside of class and ROTC, I work for the learning commons as an (SRS Supplemental Review Session) leader. In this position, I teach two weekly calculus review sessions to the same students to help them succeed in their math courses. I have completed two coops with Thyssenkrupp Bilstein in their defense department as a manufacturing engineer. After serving four years in the Army, I plan to work in the civilian sector in either the automotive or defense industry.

Caleb Wilson

Nathanael Olander - KAOC Scholarship
My name is Caleb Willson, and I am looking to graduate from Cedarville University with a degree in computer engineering this May. Once I graduate, I am planning to move to the Dayton area and go into the research engineering field through the many defense contracting options available on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Outside of my work and school responsibilities, I enjoy working on my many side programming projects, playing video games with my friends, and practicing my accordion. As I prepare for leaving college behind, I am excited to see what God has in store for me in the future and am looking forward to the beginning of my career. I want to thank the Kittyhawk Association for their generous support for my final year of college which has made the last two semesters significantly more affordable.

Kacee Hemby

Tristan Moore - KAOC Scholarship

I recently graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in electrical and computer engineering. Within electrical and computer engineering, I went on the electrical engineering track, with a primary interest in power management on both an industrial and an electronic component (smaller) scale, alongside energy generation. I’ve had two internships with Cargill, Inc. that introduced me to the manufacturing world and helped further my love for power management. I am extremely grateful for this scholarship, as it has allowed me to focus in on my studies to end my undergraduate experience and shift gears to study for the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam that I plan on taking after graduation in pursuit of becoming a professional engineer. Thank you again to the Association of Old Crows!

Ace Baum

Tristan Moore - KAOC Scholarship

I will be graduating from The Ohio State University this May (Spring 2025) with a degree in Computer Science and Engineering. I grew up in and attended high school in Kenton, Ohio, before coming to Columbus for university and starting my career. In my 4 years as a student, my confidence, skills, and knowledge have grown exponentially from the experiences I have had. I leveraged this growth during my internships and will continue to do so as I begin my career as a Software Engineer following graduation, as I was fortunate to receive a return offer following my second internship. I have made a lot of memories at Ohio State, with the most notable being the highs and lows of Saturdays in The Shoe, but also the friends and connections I have made with other students in classes, as a teaching assistant, and giving back to others through career networking events. I thank the Kittyhawk Chapter for enabling me to have these experiences, as your scholarship allows me to focus on being a student. I look forward to beginning the next stage of my life!

Mary enrolled at Sinclair looking for a career change. She is inspired by her many family members, including her dad, brother, and sister who all work in the technology field.

Dylan Burkholder

Tristan Moore - KAOC Scholarship
Dylan Burkholder is a 1st-year Sinclair student majoring in astrophysics with plans to transfer to The Ohio State University and obtain a PhD. He is very passionate about math and physics and loves to learn about the little details in space that build the universe. He is a very determined student and has big plans in this field. Dylan loves to travel and experience all walks of life. He is also an avid photographer and loves taking many pictures during his travels.
“I cannot thank you enough for this scholarship as it allows me to continue doing what I love while still studying as a full-time student and holding a job. One of the biggest things for me in life is maintaining a healthy work-life balance and this scholarship allows me to do just that. Working and being a full-time student is very tough and having help from you takes a huge load off my shoulders and I am so incredibly thankful!

Robert Lysinger

Tristan Moore - KAOC Scholarship
Robert Lysinger is an aspiring undergraduate Physics major at Wright State University. He is currently in his fourth year and about to graduate on May 3rd. Robert’s career goal is to eventually get his master’s degree in Applied Physics at the Air Force Institute of technology and continue doing research in the field.

Thank you note:

I am incredibly grateful for the scholarship that you all have graciously set aside for me. This financial support has allowed me to set aside more time for academics instead of working part time to afford college. That extra effort I was able to put toward my studies has allowed me to raise my grades and eventually start doing experimental research, subsequently making it into the master’s program at the Air Force Institute of Technology. Thank you all so much for making this possible.

Trenton Scott

Tristan Moore - KAOC Scholarship
I am currently attending Wright State University with a major in Computer Science. I grew up in Beavercreek for most of my life and still live here. As far as career paths, I plan to look into opportunities for cyber security and game development. The cyber security as more of a stable job path and game development as it is one of my passions. It’s part of why I went into coding in the first place. Along with video games, I enjoy tabletop gaming, reading, playing with my dog and my friends’ pets, and just being as helpful a presence I can be to my friends and family. I would like to thank you once again for choosing me for this exceptional scholarship and inviting me to such a wonderful gathering.
