Congratulations to the 2024-25 Kittyhawk Chapter Scholarship Recipients

I am a senior at the University of Dayton from Asheville, OH studying mechanical engineering. I enjoy riding dirt bikes and waterskiing in my free time, even serving as the president of the Unviersity of Dayton’s waterskiing club. This financial support eases the burden of tuition and allows me to focus on my academic and personal growth rather than my parents, both of whom are teachers, and I worrying about how to fund my education. The donors’ commitment to philanthropy serves as a powerful reminder that we are all part of a larger community, and it is through kindness and generosity that we can uplift each other and create lasting change.

I recently graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in electrical and computer engineering. Within electrical and computer engineering, I went on the electrical engineering track, with a primary interest in power management on both an industrial and an electronic component (smaller) scale, alongside energy generation. I’ve had two internships with Cargill, Inc. that introduced me to the manufacturing world and helped further my love for power management. I am extremely grateful for this scholarship, as it has allowed me to focus in on my studies to end my undergraduate experience and shift gears to study for the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam that I plan on taking after graduation in pursuit of becoming a professional engineer. I will be graduating from The Ohio State University this May (Spring 2025) with a degree in Computer Science and Engineering. I grew up in and attended high school in Kenton, Ohio, before coming to Columbus for university and starting my career. In my 4 years as a student, my confidence, skills, and knowledge have grown exponentially from the experiences I have had. I leveraged this growth during my internships and will continue to do so as I begin my career as a Software Engineer following graduation, as I was fortunate to receive a return offer following my second internship. I have made a lot of memories at Ohio State, with the most notable being the highs and lows of Saturdays in The Shoe, but also the friends and connections I have made with other students in classes, as a teaching assistant, and giving back to others through career networking events. I thank the Kittyhawk Chapter for enabling me to have these experiences, as your scholarship allows me to focus on being a student. I look forward to beginning the next stage of my life!

This financial support has allowed me to set aside more time for academics instead of working part time to afford college. That extra effort I was able to put toward my studies has allowed me to raise my grades and eventually start doing experimental research, subsequently making it into the master’s program at the Air Force Institute of Technology.
